Ready to explore & learn in nature? We are kicking off our Urban Plant Hunt series with our first local destination: Liberty State Park.
Living in the city with young kids is a choice we are proud to make. From the incredible cultural diversity, to the convenient and abundant options for kids programs, there are many unique benefits.
One thing that we aim to make a priority is balancing our urban jungle lifestyle with an appreciation for and immersion in nature.
New York, Jersey City, and Hoboken are home to multiple beautiful parks that help make this connection to nature possible.
Now that we are past the colder weather, we wanted to offer our community a fun way to engage their little ones outside, and cultivate a love for mother earth from an early age. We are so excited to offer you a free invitation to participate in our "Urban Plant Hunt for Kids" in partnership with local artist Deirdre Newman.
How to participate:
1) Follow along each month as we release a new set of plants to look for in one of our gorgeous parks. We'll post right here on our blog as well as social media channels. Sign up for our emails to be notified when the blog goes up!
2) Print out the PDF of our Urban Plant Hunt Explorer's Field Notes and bring with you on your hunt. Your child will have so much fun making a check mark when they've located a plant. There's space for them to write their own notes about what they saw and draw their own picture.
3) Take pictures along the way and share them with us on Instagram or Facebook
4) Bring in your child's completed Field Notes to one of our shops and your child will get their very own $10 gift card to Hazel! We are located at 199 Montgomery Street & 17 McWilliams Place in Jersey City, NJ.
5) Any child who completes all 6 of the Urban Plant Hunts will be entered to win a HUGE prize valued over $150 - complete with Hazel's favorites for their age group, goodies from our neighbor Kanibal, and a gift card to Milk, Sugar, Love!
