The light pressure of the weighted therapeutic compress lightly presses on acupressure points and uses heat therapy to give relief around the stomach, knees, and shoulders, and promotes a calm feeling much in the same way a weighted blanket works for the body.  Keep in mind that rice is denser than flaxseed so compresses filled with rice or flax/rice mix will be heavier than just flaxseed filled.  For heat therapy -  Place your compress in the microwave for 45 seconds and then in 15-second intervals until you reach the desired temperature.  For cold therapy -  Place your compress in a ziplock bag in the freezer for at least one hour or buy an extra to store in the freezer for when it is needed
